I heard that Ebay is a good site to use but is it worth it after you have a percentage taken out of your total amount that you received for whatever you sold?

Use Amazon, it's usually viewed as more trustworthy. EBay is full of tricks, trust me. It's your money, however.

It's a business. How else are they going to operate and provide you with a great service without getting some income?

The reason that they take a percentage from your sale is cause they provide you with this platform , security systems and most important of all....the fame and buyer database of eBay.
It is most probable that you will find many similar places to sell your items, but they will never have the fame and the buyer database of eBay...
So, this is the case....anyway it's your items , your money , you choose where to sell.
