Hello,
I have built a website - lightpursuer.com - and it has been 1 and a half months now and I have 10,200 views in total. It is a photography news/rumor/blog site and I wish to develop it into like a social network as well as a blog/news and online shop. Currently, I am only up to the stage of the news/blog part and when do you think I should take the next step into making it an online shop or a social network? A bit like digitalrev.com .

I will rty to answer the best I can. You should monetize your site when you have a steady stream of traffic a good arbitrary number would be about 30-50 visitors a day. You can try some google adsense and get paid from Google.
If you have a monetizing blueprint and you can see your visitors are longing for some product now, then heck get to it.
