How to update internet drivers without wifi or ethernet? - NewUserName - 04-08-2014 04:35 AM
Here's the deal, I completely re-installed windows (7) on a laptop, and I can't connect it to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cause both the drivers are out dated (I don't have the original driver disk for the computer either) Can I download the driver software on another computer and put them on a flash-drive to transfer? or is there a better way? Idk, any help would be great. Thanks!

you said it. Download the drives onto a flash drive. That is the ONLY way.

If your internet ain't working you may need to plug an ethernet in from the router and then install the Wireless thing, or you could just download the driver that is something like 802.1 and then install it and then u should be able to download rest directly

the way you mentioned is proberly the only way. I'm surprised win7 didn't just load basic drivers, have you tried manually loading drivers from win7?

Unfortunately this would be the only option other then connecting a wireless USB adaptor and using the driver disc that came with that or burning the driver to a CD.

Hello,
Windows 7 should automatically detect your routers "SID" ("Security IDentifier") the Name the router broadcasts), but in order to log on, you must configure your computer with the password (security key), exactly as set on the router. (This password is the one your router expects to see from your computer, when your computer wants to use your router for getting access to the internet.)
Click the Wireless connection icon in the Notification Area/
Right-click your listed "Connection" (SID)/
Properties/
'Security' tab:/
Enter the "Network Security Key"/
OK.

I have never heard of W7 not connecting via an Ethernet connection. Once the cable is plugged it could several minutes to configure & connect.
