where can I sell my full grown baby canaries? - Miranda - 04-08-2014 04:36 AM

I live in michigan and I breed canaries and most businesses will not take the full grown canaries ive raised. Why is that? And where can I go to take them and they will take care of them but I also get money for it. Please and thank you!

Pet shops deal with spacific breeders and also want babies because they sell faster.
you can sell them via craigs list and meet the people or visit thier homes to make sure the birds are going to a good loveing familey.

I live in Michigan and work in the Avian community. I would recommend advertising online at Hoobly.com - a lot of breeders advertise there and many bird people go there to buy as opposed to Craigslist where you may have to deal with problem situations.

There is also a large presence from the Avian community on Facebook - many groups, both for selling birds and for bird lovers.

Unfortunately, in addition to there being a lot of great bird lovers in Michigan, there are a lot of bird flippers, so do be careful who you sell to. Flippers tend to focus on parrots and larger species, but you still want to keep an eye out.

I would generally recommend selling yourself because pet stores will sell to anyone (most of them) since they are in business to sell birds - not to ensure birds get great homes. Selling yourself allows you to have control over where they go.

Best wishes!
