This is kinda a re-post.. I just wanted a little bit more information the first time I asked the question. So, basically I just started using my tumblr that I have had for like a year lol ( I started posting stuff like a couple of days ago). I post pictures and gifs about The Vampire Diaries. I don't have many followers "20" to be exact so, I was wondering how one would go about getting more followers.. Today, I got less "likes" and followers than I did yesterday. So I wanted to know what people do to get followers? Do they just continue to post and that's how they get popular? Thanks so much!

I'm a seasoned tumblr user. I have 15,000 followers (not a huge amount, but still something)
My blog is devoted to Sherlock, and art/photography..
What I did is follow a lot of people and become friends with them, they'll promote you and their followers will follow you, and you'll make more friends.. it's about networking, without being self absorbed.
It helps to have a name that people will remember you by. Mine is 'cumberlord'.
It will take a while, but anyone can do it. It also helps to be good at making graphics, or gifs, or any kind of art.. people love that. And if your funny, use that to your advantage.
