How do I get the word out about my upcoming book? - Ann - 04-08-2014 04:38 AM

More specifically for my fundraising project at indiegogo. I would like some tips on how to get the word around. Here is the project: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-internet-chronicles-terms-of-service/x/5900125

Create a Facebook group.
Advertise at coffee shops
Tell your friends and tell them to tell their friends.

These are quicker ways, though I'm not sure how much they'd work:
Tell your local newspaper; newspapers tend to be supportive of local authors
Ask to set up posters and fliers at your local library
Start a book discussion at your local bookstore (with permission)*
Hold book readings of excerpts to gather attention / offer signings afterwards

*Make pins and such, people like these

Slower ways to promote your book online/offline:
Establish a fan base on sites like Figment and advertise there
Mention your book in as many forums as you can (preferably after becoming a popular user)
Wear a shirt that says "I WROTE A BOOK" and see how many people ask about it
Get a bumper sticker on your car
Begin a Facebook page dedicated to your book and get likes
Word of mouth

Possibly make memorable yet convenient items with catchy phrases from your books and distribute them, like pencils and such. This might cost a bit, but I've noticed it's helpful. I hope this post assisted you in some way or form! Smile
