Buyer on eBay wants me to cancel order after I've already shipped item? - Andrew W. - 04-08-2014 06:20 PM

I sold an iTunes gift card on Saturday, and immediately contacted the buyer telling him I would ship out on Monday morning. I shipped on Monday, and the seller contacted me on Tuesday telling me to not ship the gift card under any circumstances. The address that he provided to eBay was not correct, and he actually lives in South Africa (not Florida, the address I shipped to). He wanted the pin # sent to him via email, which I believe is against eBay's policies because it voids the seller protection.

What should I do? I contacted the post office and they said the parcel is already almost delivered. The buyer wants a refund, but I didn't do anything wrong. I contacted him after the sale, and followed through with my commitment to ship within one business day. I also don't want to end up getting negative feedback because of this.

negative feed back or lose your money?

when it is returned to you and unused they can
have 'their' money back - simple.

you can never cancel an order after it's been shipped.
Contact ebay/paypal on this really screwy behavior.
Hopefully you sent it with a need for signature

Was his ebay ID new? The address you sent it to may be the real owner of the credit card if this was an attempt at fraud, Limiting the countries you ship to, in the ebay settings, can also stop this type of thing.

If you shipped to Florida, that was the address on the order details, right? You might get negative feedback but you can argue with Ebay about that, and it can be reversed. You have already mailed it, so you cannot do anything to change that.

If someone sends the item back to you in the same condition and you can re-sell it, then you can refund the guy's money but not until you get the item back from whoever is at that address in Florida.
