When I click "download" (an mp3), it opens a new tab instead of downloading. How do I download it? - Lyndsey Werner - 04-08-2014 06:25 PM

This has been bothering me for a while, especially since my favorite podcaster lost their tech support and and can't put their podcasts on iTunes anymore. I really would like to listen to them while I walk, but so far I've only been able to stream them.

Specifics:
Some sites will download, but most open the link.
I've used both Firefox and Safari to try to download these files.
I have a Mac OS X (Version 10.6.8)

Thank you! I'd really appreciate the help.

3 possiblility:
1. THE DOWNLOAD link is fake, is just ads. some website have download link, but NOT the biggest one, is someone very small, so that makes you click the ads fake download first.

2, It MUST open a tab ---(Ads).. The first time you click it, you are not clicking the download button. the website have are transparent picture on top of the download button. After you open that tab and close it, then click it again, it will have the download link.

3. after open that tab, please see of the top left of the ads website, it will have "skip this ads" button. Click it! it will go to the right direction. for example "adf.ly" is the one makes money on it.

Each browser version is different. In FF, if you have QuickTime installed, the newer version of the plugin will show the MP3 player, but does not allow download, like the older versions. Install the same type of download helper extension you use for Youtube, such as "Video Downloadhelper" or "NetVideoHunter".

The example below is for NetVideoHunter in Firefox.

in Firefox:
search for mp3 and change the Action to: Save file

see a free demo on how to work with the Action section:
