eBay purchase was cancelled, no communication from seller? - . - 04-08-2014 06:33 PM

I ordered something from ebay a few days ago and today got an email from ebay saying the seller has cancelled the purchase due to the item being out of stock (even though the item was listed). I got no explanation or apology from the seller, which I don't think is too much to ask really.

I can't leave negative feedback until 7 days. Do I have any grounds to complain to ebay or should I just let it go and move on? I'm just annoyed because I really wanted that item

Have you paid for it? if so contact your credit card company and tell them whats going on with your ebay deal

No, sadly I have seen this tactic by some "scum bag" sellers , a tactic if an item doesn't sell for as much as they hoped, they just cancel the sale then re-list the item n a few days of a week.

eBay doesn't seem to care about this behavior, as long as the buyer loses no money.

I won an auction form a working laptop with problems for like $25, the seller canceled the sale claiming "item is no longer available" then re-listed the item a week latter which sold 9to someone else) for almost $100. When a complained to eBay, they said nothing wrong was done by the seller. Basically they just didn't care if I didn't lose money.
