When a website is made, it does not automatically shows up in search engines (like goolge.com)
so to get a website showed up in search engines when a particular or a bunch of words are searched, Site makers need to do SEO(search engine optimization)

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is a group of tactics and strategies to help you rank higher on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) so that you can get more visitors to your website. Page One of Google is usually the main place you want to be for keywords (search terms) that people are looking for when they seek information or products you are providing.

There are two main elements to SEO: On-page SEO and Off-page SEO.

On-page SEO refers to the things you have direct control over on your site: domain name, page content, images, videos, meta data, ALT tags, title tags, H-tags, keyword density and much more.

Off-page SEO is mostly link building and social sharing.

Link building refers to getting links from other sites that connect to your site. But be careful, not all links are equal.

Social sharing involves sharing your site across social networks, social bookmarking sites and more.

Both elements are important but the importance of different parts of those elements changes frequently as Google and the other search engines change their search algorithms.
