Internet Explorer isn't connecting to the Internet but most other programs are.? - Dylan - 04-08-2014 07:07 PM

I've been trying to connect Internet Explorer to the internet so I can try and update certain programs but I keep getting an error stating the following.

"This page can’t be displayed"
•Make sure the web address http://www.google.com/ is correct.
•Look for the page with your search engine.
•Refresh the page in a few minutes.

There is a Fix connection problems button but that does nothing when I click it, a window pops up saying "troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem". I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Internet Explorer, i've tried doing it in safe mode, i've tried resetting my internet explorer in Internet Options > Advanced. I've tried so many things to no avail. Please help i'm having a very bad time Sad
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. Latest Service Pack
I have no firewalls installed onto my computer that I am aware of besides Windows Firewall, I have it set to permit Internet Explorer etc etc. My antivirus software is Advanced SystemCare by IObit. I also have ran scans from malwarebytes and adaware and spybot search and destroy.

Hi

In most cases when independent applications can connect to the Internet and a browser can not, this the solution.

First scan thoroughly the computer for Virus and Malwares.

If clean. or after cleaning do this.

WinSock and TCP/IP Refresh.

Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.

Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run a Command Prompt as an Administrator. Allow elevation.

Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt , and then press the Enter key.

Do the same process for refreshing the TCP/IP just replace the typed command with.

netsh interface ipv4 reset press Enter

netsh interface ipv6 reset press Enter

ipconfig /flushdns press Enter

Restart your Computer.
