When did Ginsters launch different products? - Liam Borzakov - 04-08-2014 07:17 PM

When did Ginsters start to launch other mass produced products like their pasties??

HISTORY
OF GINSTERS
The homemade recipe for success

From a humble, family-run, egg-packing business in Callington, the Ginsters name has grown steadily since the late 1960s and is now synonymous with a wide range of wholesome, local, great-tasting foods.

One Christmas, the Ginsters family hit upon a great idea that changed the course of history! They converted their egg-packing plant into a small bakery and started making delicious, authentic Cornish pasties. To this day, our Original Cornish Pasty is still based on that original recipe.

Back then, just 30 people worked at the Ginsters bakery. Today, over 700 people produce over three million tasty pastries every week, using – just as we always have – the freshest ingredients from local suppliers. Of course, we had to build a bigger bakery to achieve this… it’d be a bit cramped otherwise!

Since 1977, Ginsters has been a part of Samworth Brothers Ltd, so we are still very much a family-owned business.

I have never met a true Cornish man/woman who would buy a Ginsters pasty. No pasty is ever made with puff pastry. You would be hard pushed to find them sold in any Cornish shop except the Supermarkets. We call them meat pies. Ginsters are good employers though.
