i think ppc is best in the subject in seo because it give thousand of visitor in your site in a day but on page and off page need time to increase your site performance in google

SEO is not subject its a Technique to how serach engine read your websites. how you do in websites friendly to serch engine like google,yahoo, bing etc.
SEO is part of Online/Internet/Digital Marketing .
There is two types:-
1. SEO (Organic Search)
2. PPC(Paid Search)
3. SMM(Social Media Marketing)
So i Suggest you in better careers learn all the things in jobs as well as your own business.

I would like to inform you that both are important for your SEO career. On page and Off-page listing is free and organic, but PPC is paid service. Most people want organic listing but it takes some time. PPC is paid advertising service give results instantly. SEO is endless, is the great career for everyone.

Offering SEO services is not really a career but you do need to be able to do both on-page and off-page the proper way.
Keep in mind freelance SEO doesn't pay that good but if you are offering your services in the right place and you really offer quality you may build a constant stream of clients.
