HORRIBLE internet connection? - Brandon - 04-08-2014 07:19 PM

I moved into this apartment almost a year ago. We got internet withing the first week and had always had horrible nonstop connection issues. I play on my PlayStation, and watch YouTube most of the time. But when I do these things, YouTube wont load, and when I play the PlayStation, i'm pulling only 2 Mbps for download speed. the router is just in the next room and i have a healthy 90-100 signal strength. I have charters 30 Mbps family package so why the hell does my connection suck?!

First of, check that no one else is connecting to your internet and stealing it, that can slow down your internet significantly depending on what they're doing with it.

If there isn't anyone else connected, call your ISP and ask why you're getting such a terrible connection while paying so much. If it's not something on your end, it's something on theirs.

They might say that it's because people in your area are also using the internet and slowing it down, in which case you shouldn't be paying that much anyway.

There could be a few things. One thing is that you're using wireless. Buy some Ethernet cables on eBay or Amazon for a couple bucks and if the router is in another room feed it through the wall and plug it in to your play station and keyboard. Another thing is maybe your router has low range.
