How do I figure out what's wrong with my internet? - M - 04-08-2014 07:26 PM

My internet's been always cutting in and out over the last few months, but I'm not sure how I can locate the source of the problem. There's a few things that make it really confusing.

1. Pages often won't open on google chrome, but at the same time, I can still play on a Minecraft server.
2. I sometimes have the same problems on my phone, tablet where the connection will just disappear, and I have to reconnect.
3. It sometimes works to disconnect my internet and reconnect. Or if I refresh for about 5 minutes, the page will finally load.

I'm guessing it could be any of the following factors:
-Internet Browser
-My computer's wireless capability
-The router
-The ISP

I don't know if that information might help in determining a problem. Any ideas on how to figure out what the problem is would be appreciated!

Call up your ISP and tell them about your issues. I also have weird stuff occasionally happening with my internet. eg. not being able to browse then net but being able to use Skype and download stuff. I've just attributed it to my ISP's quirks, and the problem is usually fixed when I restart my modem.

But in any case, the first thing you should do is call your ISP, and get them to help you troubleshoot the problem.
