business brands question? - Craig - 04-08-2014 07:28 PM

what do you call it when a company sells the same products but with a different name on it
For example (this may not be correct)
Toshiba owns the brand Bush
but they both sell TV's
I don't know how to explain it?
A company sells TVs but with 2 different brands on it and at a different price, what is it called?

I believe it's called a multi-brand strategy. There are various methods of achieving a multi-brand strategy including licensing and acquisition. The benefits are that the company has more shelf space with greater potential to penetrate market share. The adverse being that the opportunity may not always be exclusive to that company depending on licensing agreements. I hope this helps.
