How could I get guest speakers for my web designers "meetup group"? - David - 04-08-2014 07:34 PM

Last year I made a small meetup group for like minded people in web design and marketing.

At the moment there is about 15 in the group and the meetups are really only to meet and greet and discuss the best marketing methods, it's getting boring only meeting in hotel lobbies and I don't live in a very large city so it's not really feasible to find a web design/marketing company in this area that would benefit from hosting the meetups in exchange for getting themselves known.

Can anybody at all come up with some innovative ways that I could possible get some guest speakers and maybe a dedicated room in a small city for meetups like this.

Thanks.

You'll only get a decent speaker if there's something in it for them - and a group of 15 is too small to be of real interest.

Might be worth a word with your local JobCentre to see if they would let you use a room in their offices?

You could charge a fee and then you can maybe pay for speakers or rent a dedicated space.
Try local schools/colleges.
Try local cafe's/art galleries
