How Much Money Goes To The Artists Through iTunes? - Darryl - 04-08-2014 07:38 PM

If an album is around €5, how much money will go to the actual artists?
I only want to buy it to support the artists! Should I? Is it worth my time or will it go to their record company?
Also, which is better for supporting the artists:
1. iTunes
2. Amazon
3. Google Play

It depends on the individual contracts the artists have with their record companies. Big names can negotiate a better deal with major labels based on the millions of copies they are likely to sell but small indie bands will often release their own music and so will keep a large part of the income from fewer sales.

the artist gets about 10% of the price on itunes. I think amazon is close to the same, and im not sure about google. (i dont recommend buying from itunes, as apple gets the money, and they actually get more of a cut then the artists do... atleast amazon/google are better companies even if they take the same amount)

The best palce to buy music from artists, is from the artists website or sites like bandcamp and etc which give the artists almost everything.
