You can try to make a website with a CMS builder.
Among so many ones, WordPress is the best one.
I use a WordPress Theme named Zippy to generate my website with simple steps.

it depends on what you are going to do with it. if you think it will never be more than a place for you to share with family and closefriends, then there are many free places such as those mentioned by the others.
however, if you think that someday you might want to take the site and make it truly unique and maybe sell a few products, or have an affilate site with someone lie Amazon or Best Buy, then you should consider a developing a site with those intentions today.
you could have a site like the later i described for under $30 a year including all kinds of helpful items.

you have a couple of options. either use a free service like wordpress.com OR get a domain, hosting, and install a self hosted version of wordpress. If you would like email like maria@myhobby.com then you will need the latter option.
