Can you legally advertise drink specials? I've heard you can and can't.? - Reese - 04-08-2014 07:41 PM

I've heard that if you call a bar, they cannot legally tell you what their drink specials are. I was wondering if it's legal to advertise on facebook?

drink laws vary greatly around the world (and in the US, by state)

some areas drink specials are illegal, as they are thought to promote binge drinking, etc
many areas its completely legal though

if this was on facebook... i would guess it would depend where your business is based, and what the laws are for the business.

and YES, many locations this is legal... in my city/state, the bar across from work shows the drinks specials on a big screen TV: mondays are 2-for-1 bloody marys, tuesdays are $2 tap beers, wedsday is something else...

It depends on what state you operate in. whether you advertise it in facebook our by other means doesn't matter.

In Oregon for example, they allow you to advertise your Happy Hour special prices, or the times of you Happy Hour, but not both in the same advert.

Call the state department who regulates liquor sales in your home state. You maybe required to list a disclaimer if on FB. Facebook also has guidelines, you will have to do some research for this.

In my home state they advertise over the radio all kinds of specials, such as: Happy hour, 5-8pm, $2.00 drafts, $3.00 well drinks, $4.00 call drinks all night long on Mon,Wed, Thursdays ladies drink free night.

Makes the wildlife come out.
