I just got an email from Facebook that said I received $50 in Free Advertising because on a page of mine I got 300 likes. Is this a scam or is it real?

That's not from Facebook. I administer a fan page for my company that has over 40,000 Likes and have never received anything of the sort. 300 Likes is nothing on Facebook - even at 40,000 we are very small
