It blocks it by default; if you are getting pop ups on your computer you may want to run a program such as Malwarebytes or Super Anti Spyware. Also for Firefox go download the add on "Ad Blocker Plus." That'll prevent all advertisements (including ad banners) from showing up, and it will keep your computer safer. It also blocks known virus sites.
