No, it is not free

Yes it is free to list, but ebay will take a % of what you sold the item for. but its not much, usualy a few cents per $5

It's Free to list then they take a percentage.

If it doesn't sell the first time, they usually let you relist it again and suggest lowering the price but you don't have to.
If it still doesn't sell, there is a minimal charge for listing the item - just like a newspaper ad would charge you, regardless if it sells.
Before you list anything, check to see who else is selling something similar, for what price and if there are any bids. Ebay also has a list of items that sell, for what price and how long it took to sell.
Ebay has great resources to help you be successful.

Hi Tiffany,

All the answers above are correct but missing a part to it.

No, usually it is not free to list item to sell on eBay. Usually they might charge 40 cents or more depending if you add more pictures to your auction or if you want your auction to last longer than 7 days. They will charge extra for those. If not, typicall 40 cents per listing.

HOWEVER, if you are an eBay member, sometimes they will offer "FREE LISTING" meaning you can list for free if you sell stuff under their guideline. Guidelines such as: listing your item maximum of 7 days, or include auction format and buy now format to your item.

If you are an eBay member, they usually send you email promotions so you know when to list for free.

After you sell your product, of course they will take a certain % of the amount you sold for. Furthermore, if you use Paypal, they will take another % of the money.

don't forget that there is an ebay classifieds, which is local to you but also seen by searches through ebay

classifieds is free and includes multiple photos and more

You can list 50 items per month for free unless you add a subtitle or add features that adds to the cost. The final value fees & paypal still apply.
Ebay Fees: 9% of sell price + s/h
Paypal 2.9% +.30 cents per transaction
