What is the easiest way around the Copyright Alert System? - Pinkylee - 04-08-2014 08:00 PM

We recently switched to Comcast, and we are no longer allowed to use bit torrent without our ISP sending us stupid emails about copyright infringement. What is the EASIEST way around this? (Preferably something that isn't going to require me to pay for anything) I'm aware switching ISP would be the best idea, but there isn't much offered where I live. I'm not a computer hacker genius or anything, but I'm certainly skilled enough to do this, if someone could just point me in the right direction.

The "easiest way" is to stop downloading illegal copies of things and it won't cost you anything. Alternatively, you can subscribe to any of the thousands of ISPs who literally couldn't care less WHAT you download, as long as you pay your bills. There are even some that are available (anywhere) via satellite, although certainly not the fastest.

Back in the day when I first started doing that sort of thing I got a couple of these emails. All I have done since is be more careful what I download. Don't download from uploaders like "spoofmaster87". Look for the reliable and tested uploaders.

Using utorrent etc. download manager, you can also remove trackers, all but the ones you want. When you first start the download the screen pops up where you can see the files and select which files you want. There should also be a section, I forget the name, but basically you remove all trackers but bittorrent and you should be good.

Worst case scenario, you use hotspotshield which is a proxy which basically emulates your connection to make it look like it is coming from 123 Fake Street Brazil.
