A problem opening up Firefox? - chris_no51 - 04-08-2014 08:01 PM

I've run into a small internet problem... well a Firefox problem to be more precise. I booted up my computer today to find out that when I click on my Firefox icon it will not load and bring up the browser. As a result I am using Internet Explorer, which I am really not liking. All of my bookmarks are on my Firefox. I don't want to uninstall and reinstall it, due to fear of losing all my bookmarks. Has this happened with anyone else that uses Firefox? Any thoughts or suggestions?? Thanks!

Simply download and install Firefox again.. (Do not uninstall Firefox) and you will keep your data...

You can export all your bookmarks to Internet Explorer or Chrome if you want. There is an option in the settings of all browsers to do so. So, try exporting/importing the bookmarks to another browser and then uni-install/re-install Firefox. If it works, import the bookmarks back again.

Quick solution:

Backup your profile ( bookmarks and everythinig )using this command below

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
To run the above command press window + r or go to window -> accessories -> run past there this code and hit enter.

Copy this folder on desktop

And after that install fresh version of firefox from internet and
again use the same command and past back this profile folder to location above.

First thing to do when you have problems with Firefox is run it with addons and themes disabled.

Open terminal and try firefox -safemode

If Firefox opens then there is a problem with an addon or theme.

If it does not open, the terminal should report back an error. You can then look up what to do to solve this error.
