I've actually work as an Adwords consultant and have recently finished work with a Canadian magician so I know this area well.

Firstly before you start directing paid ads onto your website I would highly recommend you improve your website. I happen to know that in this profession children's birthday magicians are very low paid gigs. What you want to do is target corporate gigs and other gigs targeted at older audiences such as weddings, hospitality. In order for you to do that you will have to market yourself different and build a more professional looking website.

Once the site is up I would then learn about searrch engine optimisation and/or use paid advertising.
Paid advertising is a great way to test your business and work out of it's viable. If you get a good ROI you can just keep using it, but in any case it gives you good research into your audience and you can then use the information to work on free search traffic
