I'm looking for a website or search engine that will return results by rank of web traffic and not necessarily by relevance (e.g. Google, Bing, Yahoo). For example if I searched for the term "movie blog" I would get a result of the most visited movie blogger website in the world...

A browser plugin that displays the Google page-rank in search results might speed the process, one I have currently only works with Yahoo search. (Google results are harder to patch now) The first returned results will tend to be the highest ranking sites, you may well not need to go beyond page 1 of the results.
Statistics sites like Quantcast, Alexa and Compete.com provide traffic estimates and demographic data that might be useful in your research, although finding bloggers specifically may be a challenge.
