So my friend with benefits changed her number and said she would contact me later in the day and didn't. I am thinking of asking her what happened over facebook would that be a violation of privacy? It is possible she changed her number because of me but she never had said anything negative to me i'd imagine if she hated me she would tell me that after changing her number rather than tell me "Oh sorry changed my number i'll give you new one later."

Only if she explicitly told you not to message her in any way. So go ahead and ask her.

I mean you can always ask, but only in a nice way. Unless she told you to not to have any contact all with her (which would be a sign she is probably done with you), but by the sounds of it a facebook message would be okay just be nice and ask friendly. and if she tells you she wants to end things just respect her for that and move on.

I don't think a single message would constitute that. But if she doesn't answer, respect her wishes, and cut off contact.
