Selling tips on eBay? - john - 04-08-2014 08:07 PM

I've put up a twin pram for £100 which I bought for £300. It's on buy now and only available for pickup in the UK. I put it up for 30 days and it's been about 20 so far. I've got about 200+ views and 7 watchers. Why is my item not selling? Am I doing anything wrong? Is there something I can do to increase the chances of someone buying my item?
Yes the item is on buy it now

is it an auction or a "buy it now"?

people are more likely to bid then buy. so try making it an auction (next time) for 50 with a "reserved price" (it's near the 'buy it now' part of the set up page) for 100.

Check similar items under the completed listings pages. See if similar have sold and how much they got. Check their categories and check your spelling in the heading. Some people will wait to see if things drop in price and if you have watchers they might not bid until the last few hours ! Offer 'Best Offer'.

'Pick-up only means you are selling ONLY to people in your local area .

.. and this has to be reflected in the price == in my limited experience with 'pick up', the seller is lucky to get much more than 2/3rds the 'normal' price ....

. worse, if you fail to make a big point of 'Will fold down to fit on back seat of car' or whatever, many potential buyers of a 'big' item like a twin pram will assume they need a van / trailer or roof rack to transport it ....

So your buying 'audience' will be your neighbours within walking distance !

IF you can 'transport' it, you may get more potential buyers if you offer "Willing to deliver within 50 miles of (XYZ Town Centre) for petrol costs (£1 per 5 miles)" or whatever
