like i see followers and apparently i have 7 followers which is bizzare cuz i don't follow anyone but 3 family members so far. and are there points involved or something? And whats the point of hashtags? do i get more points if i hashtag trends??-kindalost #thankyou

there is no points system in twitter. you follow people they follow you back, so that when they tweet you see it and when you tweet they see it. now if you mention something in your hashtag "#" people are searching on twitter every second they may find your tweet and decide to follow you. if you mention that your taking a medication, the manufacturers who have accounts there will follow you, but dont follow them back! its just another way of spamming you.
the more brand names or people you mention in your tweets the more companies and poeple will follow you. if your sick and tweet about your cold you may get doctors or allergists to follow you or if you have had your teeth fixed dentists may follow you.
twitter is 100million people 80% are nothing more than spam or porn or people trying to sell you something. be careful who you follow. look at their tweets to see that they are a real person and not a spambot.
