Implementation of the "Like" Button on Facebook (for marketing)? - KERPLUNK - 10-15-2012 08:45 PM

How exactly does it work? When you "like" someone how can you tell if they "like" you? Do they automatically? I'm pretty sure they don't. Do you like them and then post on their wall saying "like" us for such and such (i'm in the marketing division of a dental consulting company and i'm trying to expand word of mouth about events and seminars to dental practices worldwide). Any recommendations on how to reel in people that you "like" to "like" you back? Any help is appreciated

Our Getting Started guides are designed to provide website owners with all of the tools necessary to begin integrating their website with Facebook. The easiest way to get started on the Facebook Platform is with social plugins. Social plugins are embeddable social features, like the Like button, that require only one line of HTML code. Deeper integration with Facebook is available with single sign-on, which enables you to remove the registration process from your site and allows the user to log in to your site using their Facebook account.

Word-of-mouth advertising is alive and kicking on the Internet and its power is most felt in social networks such as Facebook. When someone clicks on the "like" button on your page, it will show in that person's Facebook newsfeed. Everyone who is included in that person's Facebook friends list will be able to read that newsfeed. If they click on the link that leads back to your website and hit the "like" button as well, you will create a word-of-mouth avalanche. Be prepared for the surge of traffic that will generate.
