Accidentally disabled my wireless connection? - Shona - 04-08-2014 08:24 PM
I accidentally clicked "disable" on my wireless options and I can't figure out how to enable it again. I've tried going into the device manager but it comes up with this error message:
"MMC cannot open the file C:\Windows\sytem32\devmgmt.msc.
This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console or was created by a later version of MMC."
Any advice would be useful!

You could just enable the driver from the command line. To do that follow these steps: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/1886-enable-disable-a-device-from-the-command-line

First, you need to fix the control panel mmc.
Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on command prompt and choose Run As Administrator
Now type SFC /SCANNOW <ENTER>
This will take a while but it will verify your Windows files and replace any which are damaged.
Now, in Control Panel, open Network and Sharing. Click on the option to Manage Adapters. You should find your adapter here and be able to enable it.

what program was the 'wireless options' or where was it that you disabled them?
which version of windows are you running?
have you tried right clicking on the battery icon, 'Windows Mobility Centre' and then Enable Wireless / Wifi.
