What happens if I have privacy on and I tag someone who isn't following me? What do they see? Are they alerted at all?

I'm new to instagram, but If you tag someone, no matter if you are following them or they are following you, they will see it. It will appear in their notifications and say "(Username) Has tagged you in a post."
