and have the remainder of my life to do YA. Or, not. I don't care which.

A power-line enabled router can work in conjunction with other power-line adapters to reach network devices that don't have connectivity via wireless or wired. The power-line feature does not affect the router's LAN ports, and will not make existing wired connections (Cat5) any faster.
