Is a .tv domain more expensive and why? - Robert - 04-08-2014 08:33 PM

I want to create a website and use a .tv domain because it has a better ring to it. I have read a few negatives about the domain. Why???
Also can I use the same name with a .tv, when there is the same name w/ a different domain?
Ex) shoeforsale.com and shoeforsale.tv

Yea some TLDs are higher priced, all the 2 digit domain names are country codes, the governments of some turned over management to for profit agents, .tv is for the country Tuvalu.

I would only recommend using .tv for a video or media specific site, .com is the most respected and recognized TLD for commerce, they tend to have better aftermarket resale values, it's just harder to find a .com name not already spoken for.

It appears that country codes may be set by the individual countries, their prices vary, there's a brand new class of industry specific extensions, like .clothing that cost $39.99 a year.
