If, for example, I had a website that enabled people to upload stories and others could 'like' them using a facebook plugin and I wanted a page which showed the top 10 most liked stories, how would this be done? Is it possible to rank them and let it update automatically?

That would take some server side scripting, if you can't find it ready made an east European coder in odesk.comn or elance.com may not cost too much.
