how do businesses get products so cheap? - Tyler - 04-08-2014 08:40 PM - LINDA R - 04-08-2014 08:41 PM Because a business buys 'wholesale'.....not retail. - john - 04-08-2014 08:51 PM Depends what you mean by "cheap". In general you have manufactures who sell "wholesale" to retailers. I run a furniture store and different suppliers have different pricing structures depending on how I buy and how much I buy from them. For example I have just received a shipment of 500 chairs. If I had ordered just one it would cost $110 to $120 because I committed to buying a lot the price was reduced. I also have agreements with other suppliers that I get preferential pricing due to the volume I buy, say $200,000 a year. If I purchase less than that from them I will have to pay more next year. |
