Does ChromeCast require its own internet connection to work? - Jay - 04-08-2014 08:43 PM

I want to use ChromeCast at my college. But in order to get wifi I need to download certain programs required by the school that ChromeCast is not capable of.

Long story short, do I need chromecast to connect to it's own wifi? Or does it connect to my laptop or phone via Bluetooth or something along those lines?

If I need wifi will it not work at the school?

It does need it's own WiFi connection, but you could share your connection from your laptop to the Chromecast. The quality of the stream will depend on how fast your wireless card is in your laptop.
Just set up your laptop as a WiFi hotspot.

You can stream any file or link through Chrome Browser from your phone or Tablet (just use the media plugin for Chrome) to your HDTV with A Chomecast adapter. Works Great! (Over 1,000 Questions About Chromecast are answered on Amazon)
