So a number called me from windows tech support and since i've gotten calls like these before, i knew it was a scam. But before i hung up, the guy told me that he knew my email address and told it to me. It was an email address linked to the phone that he called me on. I am really creeped out. How does he know my email address and my phone number???
I did not use that email address to sign up for anything and did not fill out a questionaire at any point.
So how did the person get my address?

Some people know how to hack into websites such as facebook, etc., and obtain personal info.
Call windows tech support and report it.

Just remember Microsoft will never call you. So if you get a call from Microsoft, then you know it is a scam.
If you answer just say no thanks, and hangup.

Do you have a facebook account? Do you have twitter, snapchat or other social media accounts? Those frequently expose a lot of personal data to anyone who wants to look. It is not that hard to find that information.
No tech support company, Microsoft or anyone else, will ever call you, so you are smart to know that the call was a hoax. If you had let them into your computer, it would have cost you hundreds of dollars.

be careful. They have tried this with me a few times. The caller spoke with a thick accent - from India? One sounded Chinese. I asked where are you calling from and he told me look at my caller i.d. which indicated Wash., D.C. But I told him he had a virtual network and he hung up. Also I could many others promoting in the background, like a boiler room. Lies. Be careful.
