Extremely slow internet Issue? - Josh - 04-08-2014 08:52 PM

So we recently brought a modem (D-Link 2880-AL Dual Band Modem) to supposedly fix the issue with our slow, slugish internet speed. It's a top of the range modem and we brought it thinking it would change the way we download, however, made no difference, actually you could say it made it worse then before. I've tried many things, checking for all things that take up a lot of downloads, changing System.ini coding, etc. I don't know, I really don't know what to do, does it have something to do with possibly the area we are in? Something I could've possibly done wrong during the set-up of this new modem?

you havnt given us any real information
connect ONLY ONE pc via a lan cable and run several speed tests over a 24 hr period, so a FAIR average measurement can be obtained.

sites like http://www.speedtest.net allow you to perform a short test and allow you to compare your speeds with others in your area(displaying same ISP)

then perhaps you might have some proper test data to look at.

Go to dslreports.com and in the tools section, run tweak test....you need to put in what your internet plan is....(what speed your paying for)

also make sure you don't have any torrent clients like utorrent running,....atleast nit files uploading/downloading and using your data up

run a range extender,or powerline adapters if your too far from router
