Buying broadband for new house? - Luke - 04-08-2014 08:55 PM

Considering the fact the Internet service providers take around 10 days to get a working broadband connection to your house, could I pay for a plan in advanced for the home I am moving into so it will be ready for when I officially move in. Bare in mind that this house is empty and has no electric going to it. It already has a phone line socket so I could simply purchase a plan for that address.

Please let me know if I'm forgetting anything that wouldn't allow me to do this. Thank you for your comments.
Just a side note, I am a first time buyer so there is no existing broadband plan in my name so whatever plan I choose with be brand new and I don't have to switch from my previous home.

ask your provider but I think you will still have to wait ,because the line in the new house will have to be switched on

I think you might want to wait until the electricity has been hooked up so that the job of the technicians is easier...I doubt they would be interested in running the initial set of internet lines through your house, at least not without a significant fee. Once that's done, you can schedule internet hookup in advance. Once you've picked a company, you can usually go online to schedule internet to be hooked up at a time that's convenient for you. Hope this helps!
