I have established my blog four months ago but it's taking a bit slow to get spread around. I accept tips on popularizing it.

A blog without any traffic is good for nothing. So it is very important to make your blog popular. In order to popularize your blog, the most important thing is to get good traffic and build a loyal blog audience. Some of the ways by which you can popularize your blog are:
1. Write Good Articles
2. Submit the Sitemap of your blog to various search engines
3. Add links to other blogs
4. Use the comments section
5. Use RSS Feeds
6. Use tags
7. Use social bookmarking sites
8. Be an active participant in forums and other groups
9. Facebook Fan Pages
10. Use Twitter
11. Guest blogging

I would focus on giving your two cents to several other groups. If you come off as an expert, then with luck they'll do some research and visit your site.
Also, if you're in the generous mood, then you could have some type of simple contest; winner who posts the best comment on your site gets a $20 gift card.
Good idea to boost traffic.
