Whats the best software on the market to day, to make and design a live website? - wolf - 10-15-2012 08:50 PM

As the title says, what is possibly one of the best softwares to date, to make a website a little bit like Facebook? That will work on Mac. Ive heard of bluevoda but I'm not sure if its great.

Thanks

The problem is that web sites like facebook are not simply web sites. They incorporate different programming languages. Your best bet is to download and install an open source script then install it on your own server.
Here are some good ones you can get for free, then with a bit of knowledge of css you can adapt them to your own style:
Elgg is a really nice social networking script which is well supported and installs easily:

You could also try E107 which comes with a variety of templates, try the demo:

Also, if you're looking for something that could also be a dating site you could try OS date, which allows you to also incorporate a variety of open source forum scripts:

There's plenty more out there, just google 'open source sociall networking script'.
The one's i've mentioned are well tested and well supported.
I'm always available by email if you need any other help.
