why is it that facebook? - Janet - 04-08-2014 09:11 PM

insists on you giving them your private cell phone number, when opening an account? i was told by many ppl not just family, but others, that the internet harbors a lot of not so nice ppl ,they could gain access to your address ,get your ip and commit a few crimes like rape and murder.is this a nessecity?my ex friend has bi polarism, hes a mental case,i had an argument with him 6 months ago,hes called me tonight ,,yelled in the phone and hung up.i fear that someday someone will do a number on me,or some other poor unexpecting woman.

It is perfectly fine to share your info with a secure website like Facebook. Don't worry- they only need it in case you get locked out of your account. I am sorry about your friend.

Facebook doesn't know you even have a cell phone. Like most online companies, I think FB uses cell phones for password recovery purposes. If you don't want to give up your number, use an alternate method.

Adding your phone number to Facebook will allow you to get your password if you loss it. It's just a safer way. But you dont need to do it.

No dear,
It not seem like that. It all of thing just happening some time with anyone. So just make your security tight and make your all privacy setting strong.
Hope you will understand.

You can also use your privacy setting, to be secure your number and many more information.
So try to understand. It is natural thing.
