can websites last forever? - Tyran - 04-08-2014 09:15 PM

I know a lot of websites that I love, but im not really informed with the whole system.... do they ever go away?

Sometimes, They do not go away, sometimes they do go away. It actually depends on the popularity of the website. If the website is really popular, then the websites stays. If the website is not popular, never viewed, and the website maker is dissatisfied with it, they have the right to take it down. Hope that helps.

Depends whether or not the owner of the website continues with hosting the websites.

Do they ever go away? Well some sites are cached by google and some might even end up on waybackarchive website.

I can't tell you how many of my saved links go "bad".
I have a website myself, and I like to post links to good information... and I should back up the information by downloading the sites, because I often go back and find nothing.

There's a broken link checker addon that you can add to your wordpress blog that will notify you every time one of your links go bad...
https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/

Why do links go bad?
Usually... it's because the webmaster got tired of paying for hosting, or the free webhost went out of the free hosting business.
