Was there user-created videos on the internet before YouTube? (P.s.: I don't mean flash animation)? - Michael - 04-08-2014 09:22 PM

I was a little kid back in those days, so the only websites I went to were like nick.com or something. But was there one site where people could upload videos and have people watch them before YouTube? I know they had like "personal websites" that people made from scratch that they probably put videos in. And I know about those flash animations people made, but I don't mean that. I mean a single site for videos that people make, but before YouTube. Does one exist/had existed? Please answer this question, because I'm really curious as I was too young in those days to browse the net.

Yes there was, shareyourworld com isnt arround any more but it was created back in 1997 and it was the first video sharing site that allowed users to upload files in various video file formats and share videos.
