How do I completely reset my computer? - Matt - 04-08-2014 09:23 PM

Title says it all really. I want to reset everything. Not because of a virus or anyother bad thing. It's because I'm returning my computer and I don't want them to have access to my personal files/accounts. Such as my social media, emails, paypal etc. Im running windows 7 ultimate. Please answer fast! Returning it tomorrow

Process depends on OEM manufacturer.

Eg. Dell have their own low level recovery tools, Acer come without (paid extra).

List you make. model and P/N.

Create a New USER ACCOUNT (Admin).

Log on to the New Account -

Delete the Old Account including the Files -

Download and install CCleaner.
Tic all the boxes, even the last one Wipe Free Space.

Run CCleaner - Wipe Free Space will overwrite all the deleted files on the hard drive.
When you delete a file, it is still on the Hard Drive but the space is available for the next write operation.

This method is easier than resetting. If you reset you will have to reinstall all the Drivers and that is a pain.
