I have an ebates account and i have recently made my first purchase through my account. I never put any payment information like my paypal or a credit card. How does ebates know where to put my money?

ebates is similar to other cash back sites including pandacashback and mrrebates.

The way cash back sites work, partner with other websites like macys, best buy, .... and others though an affiliate network.

the affiliate network offer them a service called sub ID, this function is the way a website can identify you.

The Sub ID function, is a parameter that the network provide to cash back sites (and other sites that need to track a specific customer), on the site everytime a user click on a link to shop, the website passes your member ID (that you may not be aware of ) through the network to the advertiser through your cookies.

When you finish shopping, the store where you made the purchase report back to the network which send the information back to the cash back site.

The store doesn't share your payment information (so site like ebates can't find anything about your credit card or other information)

Pays a check or paypal after 3 months, if you have exceeded $5.
