They use all sorts of methods.
The ones you have mentioned above are correct. They also use billboards, either in the street or at sporting events (you often see their adverts around football grounds)
They sponsor sports teams.
They are even allowed to use product placement now. Product placement is when actors in popular TV programmes will use their product on the show. For example, you may see Sheldon drinking a Pepsi in the Big Bang Theory.
