Copywriting for ecommerce site advice? - Jason - 04-08-2014 09:31 PM

Im having a writer write copy for an ecommerce site which I will sell provide various services, but I'm curious as to should I get the homepage done last which will display short snippets about each service benefits and get the order pages' copy written first, so the homepage content can have something to piggyback off of??? How does it go? Any links to top blog posts explaining this topic would be highly appreciated! Thanks

Any website regardless if it is an ecommerce, hobby, blog, or what have you, NEEDS to be completed - that includes the HOME page, the PRODUCTS page, the ORDER page. If one section is not complete, you will lose the interest of the person on your site. DO NOT have "Under Construction" pages! I have been designing websites for about 10 years, and have seen and experienced this myself! Good luck.

You're paying for the service so let the copywriter figure it out. More to do with theme and content than actually which section is first. Sometimes it can help to have all the content themes listed and then assign to a section rather than force sections (e.g. about us). Of Course the "contact us" is a necessity.
